PET for modeling brain tracer kinetics
Kinetic modeling of brain amyloid deposition with 18F-florbetaben provides a way to quantify binding density to amyloid plaques. We leverage the total-body EXPLORER PET/CT scanner to achieve dynamic acquisition of the full human body simultaneously. This permits noninvasive image-derived input functions (IDIFs) as an alternative to arterial blood sampling. Kinetic modeling also provides insight to rate parameters and perfusion that affect tracer dynamics over time.

We also use the total-body EXPLORER PET/CT scanner to estimate tau deposition based on 18F-PI-2620 tracer kinetics in brain regions known to be vulnerable in Alzheimer’s Disease.
